Wonderful trip!
Hello,
Here is brief feedback on our Scotland trip after a very satisfying fortnight with no organisational issues:
- Well-suited hire car - Comfortable well-equipped apartments; dishwasher would have been a plus in three (Loans, Campbeltown, Bowmore). Callander flat very close to town centre; Loans and Bowmore a bit isolated. - B&B OK; small regret — neither offered a cooked breakfast. - Ferry fine - Courses lived up to reputation (Dundonald Links, Western Gailes, the Carrick on Loch Lomond, Machrihanish Dunes, Machrihanish, and finally sublime The Machrie), all without rain!
Thank you. Maryline and Pascal Arnold

Dear all
Thank you for your letter.
I find it easier to reply in words than with restrictive scores.
Golf Travellers organised a wonderful efficient reliable trip. Thanks for exceptional weather with little wind, which may have influenced our view of the courses.
All courses state of the art except North Berwick temporarily scarified and cored greens — still enjoyed playing it. Gullane No.1: difficult championship course, majestic — No.1 golf-wise. Dunbar: easier (out and back holes cross, more width), fun, magnificent panorama — No.3 golf-wise. North Berwick: easier than Gullane for same reasons, exceptional panorama, very fun — No.2 golf-wise and my favourite. Archerfield: different inland feel, not what we seek in Scotland (links). Downside: 3 pm tee at North Berwick meant lost morning and finishing near dark at 7 pm — shame at £285.
Hotel: OK but spartan comfort, limited restaurant (hard to dine at 8:30 after Berwick). My fault — I should have specified hotel class.
Car: impeccable

Good evening Raphaël, We are safely back from Aberdeen where our trip went very well. We enjoyed all four courses with a personal preference for Cruden Bay and Trump, though Royal Aberdeen and Murcar are magnificent too. We would like to do the trip you proposed with a tee time on the Old Course — is that possible next year? Thank you in advance and have a good weekend. Kind regards Patrick Dualé
Hello,
It seems I cannot reply directly on your form. The grey areas you mention do not grey out.
So I am replying in writing.
Regarding the hotel, no problem—we are very satisfied.
The courses:
- Tralee: magnificent, a bit difficult for a first time but we
are very glad we played it.
- Waterville: our favourite ❤️ very beautiful, very pleasant to play, very
"fair".
- Cashen: too difficult for our level. Too many blind shots, a
bare fairway where balls run too much and get lost in rough where you cannot find them because it is so thick. The old pro at Waterville told us that while he rates Ballybunion Old among Ireland's best, you should "forget" Cashen if you have a handicap—in other words if you are not a professional. He added that for pro players it is a remarkable challenge. My son who regularly plays around 5 at our club (Slope 138) lost 10 balls on Cashen but scored +8 at Waterville playing +1 on the back nine.
Sincere advice—you may take it or leave it: only take very good golfers to Cashen!
That is the only mistake of the trip—we are nevertheless very satisfied.
Kind regards

Good evening Mr Métayer, Here is my feedback on our agency-organised trip. Golf: • Carnoustie (4.5/5) Excellent welcome, course in very good condition, pleasant restaurant. Back tees appreciated. • Kingsbarns (5/5) Perfect welcome, impeccable maintenance, quality restaurant, back tees too. Everything perfect! (My father did not mention my status when paying.) • Muirfield (2/5) Catastrophic welcome — felt pushed to spend. Cash machine! Mown roughs, back tees on yellows… Felt short-changed; Sunday-condition course. Played with two caddied players whose caddies played poorly and slowly on putts — unpleasant overall. • Archerfield (5/5) Perfect welcome, excellent course, quality restaurant, great practice areas; free with PGA card. Hotels: • Kinness House Apart (4.5/5) Perfect stay, well located and clean; shame no Nespresso pods. • The Lodge at Craigielaw (4/5) Perfect location; breakfast average, bed uncomfortable; nice bathroom overall. Hire car comfortable. Punctured on a nail — agency charged £700 repair. Overall very good with a few exceptions. Kind regards,
