Rock Lodge B&B in Galway (score 3) is missing from your list. Comments: Overall very satisfied with our trip, magnificent courses and a splendid country. Suggestions: Belvedere Lodge far from city centre, rooms needing serious refresh (one very damp with the smell to match, B&B with many positive reviews!!!). Fota Island: beautiful golf but insufficient maintenance spoils the pleasure (divots not filled on the whole course). Rock Lodge: closer to 3-star than 4-star B&B though staff very kind. Connemara / Enniscrone / Dooks: very good welcome, perfect maintenance, difficult but really appreciated. Druids Glen / Killeen: 2 splendid courses, good welcome, already want to return... Galway Bay: good golf, good maintenance. Portmarnock Golf Links: lacks historical charm... Pearse Lodge B&B: superb welcome, excellent breakfasts with lots of choice, impeccable recent rooms. Crystal Springs B&B: Eileen is charming and cares for guests. Good breakfast choice... A bit far from Killarney centre, only downside. Ferndale House: B&B in a village outside Dublin, not always practical for Portmarnock (breakfast between 8:30 and 9:30) but charming people, friendly village with several places to dine (and drink with locals!!!)

Hello, returning the evaluation questionnaire on accommodation and courses. Overall we are very satisfied—we enjoyed getting lost on the Wild Atlantic Way, driving the Ring of Kerry in fog, playing links in wind, fog and sometimes sun between showers, meeting people in pubs—in short what we came to Ireland for!!! If we could improve one point with hindsight we might have liked more different B&Bs closer to courses to avoid long morning drives or between stops, but that is a detail... Thank you for organising this stay... Kind regards

Die Rundreise durch Schottland mit 4 Haltepunkten hat uns sehr gut gefallen. So konnten wir Golf- spielen und Erkunden von Schottland gut miteinander verbinden. Der letzte Haltepunkt war nicht so gut gewählt, da er vom Parkplatz doch weit entfernt war (Tranport unseres Gepäcks ca. 30 min). Es wurde uns kein akzeptables Frühstück serviert. (halbtrockenes Brot/Croissants mit Käse, Marmelade, Yoghurt, Saft, Kaffee und Tee, sowie ein Sitzplatz auf einem Bett.) Für unseren Aufenthalt in Edinburgh hätten wir ein Bed & Breakfast mit Parkplatz etwas außerhalb der Innenstadt und Anbindung an Bus oder Strassenbahn für wesentlich besser gefunden.

Trotz dieser Einschränkungen in Edinburgh haben wir die Reise bei strahlendem Sonnenschein genossen.

General comment on the trip:

Vielen Dank für die tolle Golfreise. Es hat alles wunderbar geklappt. Hervorzuheben ist das Cameron Guest House in St. Andrews was wirklich äußerst freundlich und ohne Einschränkungen weiter zu empfehlen ist. Für uns als “Anfänger”-Golfer zumindest in Schottland waren die Caddys auf dem Old Course ein Traum . Wie vorausgesagt hatten wir dadurch ein mega tollen Tag. Später haben wir noch auf mehreren anderen Plätzen uns zumindest 1 Caddy mitgenommen um zu wissen wo mann am besten hinspielt ,was sich auf jeden Fall gelohnt hat. Rundum war alles perfekt geplant und wir haben “Euch” auch schon weiter empfohlen.

B&B ratings reflect less general quality than the fact bathrooms are cramped and showers very impractical for ladies (fixed shower head). Generally not enough places to hang and store belongings when staying six nights in the same place. Welcome is very convivial and hostesses make a real effort to meet requests… Known or discovered courses, always as pleasant to play… but Galway Bay is too conventional on its first 9 holes. The car hire company is to be forgotten—not able to meet expectations and knew full well it could not provide any automatic gearbox vehicle: its fleet has none in the desired category!

Thanks to Raphaël and Guillemette for organising our stay in Ireland from 13 to 20 April 2016. The golf courses offered were truly beautiful and technical. Two in Connemara, Connemara Champions Links near Clifden, Galway Bay Golf resort south of Galway and Portmarnock golf links north of Dublin. Guillemette's advice on walks, pubs and restaurants let us discover magnificent landscapes and enjoy beautiful friendly Irish atmospheres. See you soon for new adventures!
